In a historic milestone for the state, Babina Thokchom has been officially crowned as the first-ever Miss Grand Manipur 2026. Her crowning marks Manipur’s proud debut on the prestigious Miss Grand India platform, opening a new chapter in the state’s journey in national and international pageantry.
Khurumjari and Namaste India — with these heartfelt greetings, Babina introduces herself as a 25-year-old young, healthy, and confident woman hailing from the “Jewel of India,” Manipur. She holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology from Manipur University, reflecting both academic excellence and a deep understanding of culture and society.
Babina’s journey to the crown has been shaped by resilience and self-belief. Since childhood, she dreamed of inspiring others simply by sharing her story. Growing up, she faced the harsh realities of colourism and often questioned whether her skin tone and appearance were barriers to her dreams. Being judged for how she looked rather than who she was inside deeply affected her. However, over time, she realized that her unique experiences and perspective are exactly what make her story powerful.
Choosing Miss Grand India as her platform, Babina carries a strong advocacy: embracing every skin color and celebrating the uniqueness that God has given each individual. She believes beauty lies in authenticity and self-acceptance.
“I want to be the voice that says, ‘You don’t have to fit anyone else’s mold; your uniqueness is your strength.’ If my journey can spark a single moment of self-belief in someone else, that’s the ultimate win for me,” she shares.
As Miss Grand Manipur 2026, Babina will proudly represent her state at Miss Grand India 2026, the national competition held under the official license of Star Entertainment Production (StarEP Business India Pvt. Ltd.). The winner of Miss Grand India will go on to represent the nation internationally at the prestigious Miss Grand International Organization.
Adding to the excitement, India will host Miss Grand International 2026 for the very first time, making it a historic global event for the country.
